Swine Flu Media Hype

Is it just me or is this whole Swine Flu thing TOTALLY overblown? I look at the news and I just don’t understand what all of the hype is about. Worldwide, regular flu kills WAY more people and no one is freaking out about it.

Why is it affecting the markets? Why is it affecting oil prices? Why are schools closing? If you look at the number of people globally that have been affected by this it is what tops 3000 people and the majority of it is mild sickness? Hasn’t anyone ever gotten just the normal garden variety of the flu? In 2006 normal flu killed 35000 people out and affected 20-30 million. That is less than 1 percent.

Globally the numbers for Swine Flu approximates 0.000000443% of the world population. Globally cars have killed more people today than have been sickened to date! According to Wikipedia, road incidents result in the deaths of an estimated 1.2 million people worldwide each year, and injure about forty times this number. Why isn’t everyone freaking out about that? Why aren’t we banning cars? I mean come on!

Don’t buy into the hype!!!!

I’m Back!!

I know it has been forever since I posted to this blog and I thought that I would give an update to what I have been up to.

Well, since this has been posted, I have been laid off. Yeah me and how many other people? I have been making the best of it, but at times it has been HARD. I also have been loosely following the decline of our nation and I cannot think that this is accidental. Too many things all at once, too many bank failures, too many “problems.” I just cannot subscribe to any “theory other than the fact that this is totally planned and follows a step by step method.

Whatcha gonna do? I didn’t make it to the local TEA party as I was trying to make money that day, but I have heard from a lot of people that they went well. I think that the focus needs not be on taxes, but rather what is the real truth behind what happened to our country and who are the real players? I believe that the corruption goes so deep that we many never find the truth, at least not for a generation or two.

What the hell happened? What is so fundamentally wrong with people that that they put their greed above all else? What makes them value their life so far above those around them? What happened to people caring about those around them? I don’t see how a person can take advantage of another, just for their own gain. It sickens me to see what happened in our country. So much greed, so much avarice, so little care for others. We all live on the same rock, we all breathe the same air, we all share the same water.

WTF people? Am I that naive and maybe mentally retarded into thinking that one should consider everyone else on their actions? Apparently that is exactly what is happening, except it to take advantage of everyone else.

It is a truly disgusting statement of what this species has become.

I believe

I believe in my heart of hearts that all men truly are equal, and that all men do deserve to live free.  Free of tyranny, free of governmental censure and intrusion and that all law abiding people have the right to live free of fear.  I also believe that the laws of man, should protect man, not the ideologies of the few.  Especially the few that would enslave, harm or kill others.  I believe that all men have the irrefutable right to speak freely and that they have the God given right to pursue their life to the fullest, as long as it doesn’t infringe on the safety or rights of others.

That is the oath I swore to.  That is the reason to stand up and defend others, regardless of nationality, color or religion.  This is what we need to defend, and I think that this is what our Constitution mandates.

I also believe that we as a country need to lead by example and not by sword, unless all options have been exhausted, and life and freedom is imperiled.  Yet, in that defense of others, I don’t feel it is our right to enforce our standards and beliefs on those that we have helped.  I believe that they have their own rights and cultures and that we need to preserve them and not move into an area and war for profit.  That we need to provide a hand up, not a hand out.

Domestically, I feel that we as a whole need to look out for each other, that our leaders need to keep in mind what is the most pro survival for the largest number of people, while striving earnestly to preserve the rights of the just individual.  I feel that all honest people have a right to their self defense and that all people deserve the best opportunity for their success.  I feel that with power comes responsibility, to one’s company, family and nation.  That wealth should not be amassed for the sake of wealth, rather that it should be used to improve your life and that of your family, while providing opportunity for your fellow man.

I believe in free enterprise business,  providing it upholds the law and assists in the survival of others.  I feel that a person deserves to receive a profit for their hard work.  I don’t believe that your success should be built on the suffering of others.

This then is the reason I am diligent in doing what I am capable of to ensure the laws are adhered to and that I speak up when I see injustice.

Babysitter Wanted

For some reason I have been looking for the actual story that this was taken from.  I guess it is a morbid fascination.  But, I am naturally curious and I love to know the story behind the story.

Here is a synopsis for you…
A new life is starting for Angie, who’s leaving the embrace of her Catholic mother for college studies.

She applies for a baby-sitting job and finds herself on a remote farm before the Stanton family and their adorable little boy. But Angie’s first night of work might be her last.

Alone in the sprawling and remote house, anonymous phone calls begin to shatter her peace of mind.

Babysitter Wanted turns one of the most tried and true of all horror movie conventions-the babysitter in peril-absolutely on its head, and twists it into something entirely new and different.

Suspenseful, funny, gory, and defying expectations every step of the way, this is one of the most enjoyable roller-coaster rides in recent horror cinema history.

This is some info on the company that produced it:
Big Screen Entertainment Group (OTC:BSEG) is a media conglomerate with divisions in film, television, music, cell phones and gaming. Headquartered at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, California, BSEG’s films have premiered at the worlds most prestigious independent film festivals, played at the country’s largest theatrical chains and can be found in America’s top retail outlets. In addition BSEG, under its distribution banner with Five Star Productions, The Independent Film Company (TIFC) distributes its film library directly to buyers internationally.

New Movie

I enjoy watching movies with my family and I thought that I would talk about one that I found on YouTube.  It is a horror film, so I won’t be watching this with the kids, and I am not usually into horror, but this one looks really good.  It’s called Babysitter Wanted.  It is based on a true story, which is kind of disturbing, but it makes it all the more interesting!  Big Screen Entertainment is behind this movie and it has already won acclaim from those in the horror movie industry.  The part that has me wanting to see it is that it looks like real life, not the made up stuff that has the sole intent of trying to scare you without having much believability.

Why don’t you check out their MySpace page!

A thought on HumanLight

I am all for celebrations in which man strives to better himself and the human race. Maybe I am just some kind of freak, but I have always felt that we as a whole are mere infants in that which we can and should be.
I’m sorry, but when I look at the acts of so many in the world currently, it is really hard to think that this is all we are. When I see movies like Contact and others that posit that there is a greater and better existence than what we are struggling through, it is encouraging. How can this current example of humanity be all we are?
Also, why is it whenever someone postulates a better future and present for humanity, he is shot down, sometimes literally? What does that say about us? What if we were able to look at our actions in present time from a more enlightened point of view? I feel that we are struggling as a race to say enough is enough. Where is the way in which to grow? Isn’t that the goal of every religion; to live a more ethical life, and strive toward immortality, in one form or another? Aren’t they all telling us that we are capable of more, that we are mere infants in comparison to our true potential? How many tell us that the way out is through helping others grow and become more? When will these religions realize that they are fighting and killing for the same basic premise?

When do we finally reach the point of realizing that we can truly be more?

Hello world!

Well, hello to all that read this.  Please feel free to comment and let me know how you came across this.

First a bit about myself.  I am 41 years old and I live in N.W. Montana.  Hopefully I won’t come across as some uneducated hick.  I am married with 3 kids.  I enjoy spending time with my family and helping others have the time and money to do the same.   I served in the U.S. Navy and grew up a lot mentally there.  Overseas,  I have lived in Japan, Spain, and Guam.  Stateside I have lived in California Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming in addition to living here in Montana.

I hunt and fish when I have time and I like spend time outdoors as well as on my computer.  I like to ride my old Yamaha IT125 as well as my mountain bike.  I used to work in construction, but as the economy here has slowed down so much, I am now laid off.  I am taking advantage of this situation to focus on something that I would really enjoy doing, as opposed to just having a job.  After working for myself when I lived in California, and working for others here in Montana, I definitely want to work for myself again.  The thought of putting my dreams and goals aside while I build someone else’s doesn’t appeal to me!

Sometimes I consider moving away from MT, as I would like to be closer to my family, it’s hard to think about leaving here.
